Be still in the presence of the Lord, and wait patiently for Him to act.
Psalm 37:7
My selfish prayer was to meet my husband early in life so we’d have more time to hang out. Thankfully, God thought the age of nineteen was soon enough.
Mentally, I gave God a reverent high-five.
A friend in college had a poem framed in her hallway. It depicted God, arms outstretched, holding a man and a woman in separate hands. He kept His hands divided until both of them were looking at Him. Focused. Intentional.
If only one of them was ready, the palms remained apart until the other person turned towards Him. Palms face up, He drew them closer to each other as they focused on Him, until His hands touched and they united with the love of their life.

From the moment I read that poem, I knew that it was not going to be because of me that I hadn’t met my future husband. I had to make God the focus, the center of everything in my life.

If I had to wait to meet my husband, it would be because he wasn’t ready.

I waited two years for God to orchestrate our meeting.
Looking back, it was no coincidence, no fluke or happenstance that brought Justin and I together.
Three months before we met, God began directing. The stage lights flickered and hummed. Gears engaged and creaked as angels prepared to draw back the curtains for us to begin our love affair.
