Guest Blog: Kiss or Not to Kiss?

    I am so excited to have my first guest blogger post today! She graduates high school next week and I love her dearly! Please help me welcome Dani!

Kiss or Not to Kiss?

 Disney came out with a movie a few years ago called The Princess and the Frog. In it, a magician transforms Prince Naveen into a frog. We all know from fairy tales stories what the prince must do to turn back into a human, he must kiss a princess.

   The Prince Naveen comes across Tiana, who is dressed like a princess for a celebration.  Tiana agrees to kiss Prince Naveen, and poof!  Tiana has become a frog also. She has a dream to be a chef, but being a frog is hindering.

   Tiana and the prince go on a search for a witch to change them back. In the end the witch marries them as frogs, but when they share their first kiss they change back. Tiana gets to open a restaurant and they live happily ever after.

     Becoming a frog was not part of her plan. Most of my friends and I are discovering that sometimes God has a different plan for us than we thought. This weekend I was talking with a friend about how worried I was for next year, and he told me about a phrase called FROG, Fully Relying on God. It made me think of the Disney movie immediately.

    Most of my friends and I are juniors and seniors and we have some huge decisions coming up, worries about which colleges we will get accepted to, which one we can afford and in the end which college should I choose? I hope that we are all asking God these questions, and not just our parents.

” 5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart
 and lean not on your own understanding;
6 in all your ways submit to him,
 and he will make your paths straight. “
                – Proverbs 3:5-6

     Sometimes God has an unexpected path for us. But we need to involve him in our lives and our decisions so he can direct us where he wants us. Whether it’s a small choice, or a huge decision. Making time to talk to God about all your concerns will let Him lead your life in the direction He wants, and will give you peace of mind.

    I know! I'd say God is always being unexpected even when something that we totally expected happens! But we need to keep in mind that it's all for better, even if we don't understand which way we're moving. Black Women Dating
