Brave Beauty

a book review

Because I speak to youth and small groups and camps a lot, I’m often asked questions about great studies or resources for young girls. I was excited to be part of the BlogAbout Blogger Network and post a review for the excellent book: Brave Beauty: Finding the Fearless You.

Brave Beauty by Lynn Cowell contains 100 mini-chapters which are the perfect length for a quick pick-me-up before school or read aloud over breakfast. If you’re anything like my family, breakfast is pre-made egg and sausage burritos or peanut butter crackers shoved into my children’s hands on the way out the door. So perhaps having a chapter read out loud on the drive to school is more your style.

Regardless of when, where, and how you read it, Brave Beauty takes girls on a journey of personal stories, funny anecdotes, and heart-pulling lessons that encourage girls to find their confidence in God. Each mini-chapter contains a Courageous Call prayer and questions to ponder with space to write thoughts and notes.

Considering the first chapter in my young adult dating book is “Confidence,” it’s no surprise that Brave Beauty tops my list of books that I recommend for young girls and am sending to my nieces for Christmas.
