Spouse Quality: Acts of Service

February 5, 2013 — 1 Comment

Ladies, don’t marry a lazy man.

Lazy is as lazy does.

I’m trying to think of other quips to add the word lazy to, but I’m drawing a blank. Ironically, time to give up.

When you’re dating, watch for the warning signs that your man isn’t as . . . useful? . . . productive? . . . self-motivated? as you want. His actions during your dating time reveal how he’ll be when you’re married.

You want a man who will stay up with a crying baby to let you get some sleep. A man who will help the kids with school projects. A man who will cook and do dishes if you have to attend a meeting or work late. A man who’s not afraid of the washing machine.

And close to my heart, a man who will come be with you at the doctors after a long meeting, and then search for a 24-hour pharmacy when your little one is diagnosed with pneumonia at 10:30 at night, and then will travel to another store to get a vaporizer and two different kinds of crackers for your picky toddlers.

Find a man who is always willing to go the extra mile, a man who carries your bags in from the car, and always jumps up to see if you need assistance. This is a man worth finding.

Part 2 of Valentine’s Day Expectations coming Friday  Tuesday.
